あらすじ

　翌朝、夢から覚めても猟師は心が痛かった。そして夢の意味を確かめるために彼はアカヌマへ向かった。

Original and Japanese translation

And after having uttered these verses she exclaimed:—

KWAIDAN

　その詩を越えに出した後、彼女は叫びました。

“Ah, you do not know—you cannot know what you have done! But to-morrow, when you go to Akanuma, you will see,—you will see…”

KWAIDAN

「ああ、あなたは自分が何をしたのか分かっていません！
　しかし明日、アカヌマに行けば分かるでしょう」

So saying, and weeping very piteously, she went away.

KWAIDAN

　そう言って、悲しそうに泣きながら彼女は居なくなりました。

When Sonjō awoke in the morning, this dream remained so vivid in his mind that he was greatly troubled.

KWAIDAN

　ソンジョウが朝起きると、この夢を鮮明に覚えていて、心が強く痛みました。

He remembered the words:—“But to-morrow, when you go to Akanuma, you will see,—you will see.”

KWAIDAN

　彼はこの言葉を覚えていました。「明日、アカヌマに行けば分かるでしょう」

And he resolved to go there at once, that he might learn whether his dream was anything more than a dream.

KWAIDAN

　彼はすぐにアカヌマへ行くことを決めました。自分の夢が、ただの夢に過ぎないのかを知るために。
